Great Malvern Priory
A late medieval jewel box
Great Malvern Priory is a rather nice Perpendicular church, with a tower that looks lik a little brother of Gloucester Cathedral's - in fact, the same masons may have been used on both. What you can't see from outside is the marvellous collection of decorated tiles (left) and medieval glass - and the hidden carvings of the misericords, which include the mice ganging up to hang the cat from a gallows, as well as scenes of medieval life.
This podtourâ„¢ takes just twenty minutes so we've made it available to you to download for FREE. It was the first audio tour we recorded and the sound quality is not as good as on our other podtoursâ„¢ but we want you to enjoy one of our favourite medieval churches. Sometime we'll get round to re-recording it!
