Audio tour of Winchester cathedral
Green men and deep sea divers
Winchester is one of the great cathedrals of England. Originally built by the Normans on the site of the earlier Saxon minster, the cathedral has been added to over the centuries, with fine late Gothic tombs and a marvellous Perpendicular nave.
As you take the podtour™ you'll see the cathedral, and learn about such characters as William of Wykeham, bishop of Winchester and founder of Winchester College and New College, Oxford. We'll show you the way the cathedral evolved over time, find a green man, a monkey playing the harp, and a statue of a deep sea diver who helped keep the cathedral standing.
